This weekend – yes, prom.  My beautiful daughter, and her guy went to prom, and had a blast.  Sara was truly radiant, as these pictures reflect.  I could hardly take my eyes off of her.  I did pretty well holding it together, until I decided to pray with her right before Patrick got here – got a little teary – eyed, I must admit.  We took some pictures here, then met with the whole group and took more pictures – always funny, because it truly looks like the parents are overthetop crazy with all the cameras.  They they drove away to dinner in their limo church van (one of my favorite parts!) driven by their beloved youth pastor (thank you, Scott!)  Such a great idea!

They had a great time, and still are having fun, actually.  On a little beach trip with the prom group – they return tonight.  As we check off each momentous occasion, the inevitable draws closer – going to college.  So far, so good.  I’ll keep you posted on more as it occurs.  I’m sure you’re on the edge of your seat!  🙂  I sure love you, Sara!

Be blessed today, whether it’s a monumental occasion, or an ordinary day – for great is the Lord, and worthy to be praised!

do not resist

from my Jesus Calling devo this morning:

“Do not resist or run from the difficulties in your life. These problems are not random mistakes; they are hand-tailored blessings designed for your benefit and growth.  Embrace all the circumstances that I allow in your life trusting Me to bring good out of them.  View problems as opportunities to rely more fully on Me.

When you start to feel stressed, let those feelings alert you to your need for Me.  Thus, your needs become doorways to deep dependence on Me and increasing intimacy between us.  Although self-sufficiency is acclaimed in the world, reliance on Me produces abundant living in My kingdom.  Thank Me for the difficulties in your life, since they provide protection from the idolatry of self-reliance.”

whew!  great way to start my week …..

I just finished reading the letters I sent out with each of my sons’ graduation announcements – it goes to family and friends, and just sort of shares my thoughts on that particular special graduate.  Wiping the tears from my eyes. whew!  I honestly cannot believe I’m about to write a fourth and final letter of thoughts about my beloved 2010 graduate!  I am truly humbled to have been given the gift of these children, and though i’ve messed up plenty of times (no comments, kids!) I’ve definitely put my all into their lives.  I pray they know that.  I still love to hear from them, see them, and share life with them.  And, obviously, still pray plenty over them and their lives.  But……I’ve always had at least one child at home, too.  For the last 28 plus years.  always.  Till this coming season…….

I’m looking at this coming fall semester with a bit of dread, but mostly with great excitement to see what God has planned for this particular graduate.  My one and only girl graduate.  My girl.  Oh, how I love her!  Now, off to write a letter……
