new life

“But that’s no life for you. You learned Christ! My assumption is that you have paid careful attention to him, been well instructed in the truth precisely as we have it in Jesus. Since, then, we do not have the excuse of ignorance, everything—and I do mean everything—connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life—a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.” Ephesians 4:20-24, the message

Really, in action, this would revolutionize our lives.  Wonder if we are, wonder if I am, brave enough to do it?!!  I’m really wanting to have a totally God-fashioned life.  Help me, Lord…….

i will sing

“I will sing for joy in God,
explode in praise from deep in my soul!”   Isaiah 61:10

Doesn’t that just grab you?!!!  It did me.  I’ve been thinking about it for two days.  I will sing.  Explode in praise.  wow.

When I got home from work today I quickly ran in and changed clothes, then hopped on my bike for a great spring bike ride.  The air was perfect.  I had a blast, just me and Jesus.  And I exploded in praise.  a few times.  It was invigorating.  You should try it. Really.

still processing……

Hi to you this morning.  It is absolutely beautiful outside today – spring is such a glorious time!  Sun shining through the windows, birds singing, all’s right with the world.  Hope the same is true for you today.

We have just returned from a monumental event, and I’m still pondering every little bit of it, but thought I’d just report the success of our Adam marrying his true love, Laura.  On 4-10-10, in a beautiful little church in North Texas, a boy and a girl each said “I will” to the vows of loving each other till death do them part.  It was sweet, profound, and joyful to say the least.  The event had been anticipated for so very long, it was hard to believe it actually was finally here!  Then, (you know how it goes, right?) it went by so very fast!  I tried to savor each moment.  Tuck memories in my heart to remember later.  Like my most favorite wedding moment – watching the groom see the bride for the first time.  My son.  the groom.  He was so stinkin handsome in his tux!  But you should have seen the grin on his face when he saw her. Beautiful doesn’t fully describe her – exquisite might be close, but still lacking the full impact of her beauty.  She glowed.  She was captivating, and he watched her with every step she took closing the gap between them, till they were arm in arm facing the pastor. and then they were married.  Cutest couple ever!  And so very happy!  We are too – we absolutely love the new Mrs. Mattingly!

As I said, I’m still processing.  But I am also afraid if I don’t write some of it down, life will squeeze some of the images from my heart before I record them.  Thanks for letting me share them here.  and for listening.  And God bless you, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Mattingly.  May He truly invade your lives with all His blessings, and lavish you with His love!

As you go out on this springy day, may God renew your hope, and joy in the simple things.  Like a wedding between two of my favorite people.  Like the sweet love of newlyweds.  May He remind you of His own intense love for you, and the fact that He promises to never leave you nor forsake you.  ever.

nothing. ever.

“Nothing above us, nothing below us, not anything else in the whole world will ever be able to separate us from thelove of God that is in Christ Jesus.”  Romans 8:39

No matter what you do, no matter how far you fall, no matter how ugly you become, God has a relentless, undying, unfathomable, unquenchable love from which you cannot be separated. Ever!  ~Max Lucado

Glorious.  Simply glorious!
