life changing

Are you ready to be convicted?  Are you ready for some words to rock your world?  If not, do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT go to the Living Proof Ministries blog.  (see it over there?  on the left of this post?)

But, if you are truly wanting to adjust your focus more on Christ and the things of Christ, if you are willing to feel some pain and discomfort, click on that LPM link.  now.

I am so very thankful for this precious friend of mine, and her articulate reporting.  Her compelling words paint disturbing, yet honest pictures of life in India.  today.  I am so proud of her.  And personally feeling so very undone.

I have had a Compassion child for a couple years now – but I think I want at least a dozen more…….

Lord, help us.  Help me.  I want so badly to honor You in all I do.  Help me to know what to do now…..

I am loved.

Almost every Wednesday morning, I go to my friend’s house, and we walk.  together.  We talk.  We take her dog, too, however, these days she can’t make our whole route, so we take her then return her to the home before continuing our walk.  We love our time together.  I mean, all three of us.

I call Nancy every Wed. just to check and make sure we are going.  As the phone rings at her house, her dog, Snickers, begins to bark excitedly.  Do you know why?  (I promise you – I’m not kidding here)  The dog knows it’s me, and she knows soon I will pull up in her driveway, and we will walk.  This morning, when I placed that phone call, I realized how much I enjoy being loved by this dog.  Nancy assures me of a couple of things – Snickers barks ONLY when I call, and she barks at me when I pull in the driveway.  She knows.  And she loves me.  I revel in that at times.  It’s a sure thing for me – going to that place, and knowing I’m eagerly greeted by this precious 4-pawed animal.

How much more am I loved (you too!)  by our God!  Maybe we don’t hear Him like I hear Snickers.  Maybe we forget His love for us.  Maybe our feelings are what drives our confidence.  But those are not always reliable.  The Word is, and it says He loves us.  period.  Delight in that today – for you are truly, and forever, loved.  You are priceless to Him.  Live like it.

Jeremiah 31:3
The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”

John 13:34
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

John 15:12
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

Ephesians 5:2
“…and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

Colossians 3:12
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

1 John 4:10
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

This certainly is not a new song.  However, I heard it recently again, with fresh ears.  A few years ago, when a very close loved one was going through an extremely difficult time, this is what I prayed for him.  This song was so special to me – a reminder of what the Word tells us.   My loved one has come through that season, and is finding joy again.  You will too.  But, in the meantime, praise Him!

You Never Let Go
Artist: Matt Redman
Album: Passion 06: Everything Glorious

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back
I know You are near

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

simply glorious.

Happy Spring day, oh blogland!  I am inside this glorious morning only long enough to write a couple emails, and then am heading back out the door.  Because on a day like today, the only place to be is outside.  pure and simple.  Of course, it helps that today is a “day off” for me, so it also means errand day, catch up day, etc.  Sometimes I get caught up in the errands, I must admit.  So many things to do, places to go.  But, God this morning changed my schedule, actually rewrote my list of things to do – so I am heading back out to enjoy His creation as I walk my two dogs, and see what He would have me see.  To saturate myself in the sunshine, cool breeze, and lower humidities than we usually have.  To just enjoy being outdoors.  With Him.

My heart is truly so heavy with the burdens of many loved ones and friends, and many others that are truly carrying too too much heartache, hard times, and challenges.  I could get so very overwhelmed with all the hurt I have seen people I love experience.  I hurt for them.  As I talked with a dear friend earlier, this world is hard.  Life is hard.  Many are going through tremendous trials, and hardships.  But God.  He can change circumstances, and even if He doesn’t, He promises to stand with us through them.  He gives us reason to hope in hopeless situations.  If you are one of those going through challenges you don’t think you will survive, know I am praying for you.  Know that.  I am burdened for you.  But here’s what I know: God knows.  God cares.  Truly, He does!  It may not “feel” like it at the time, but He is in this with you.  And the thing is – we must believe what we KNOW, not what we feel.  Allow Him to minister to you through His Word.  Allow Him to use others to help you, and serve you.  And continue to dialogue with Him.  He wants you to bring all your hurt, pain, and disappointment to Him.

You may wonder why these two paragraphs are in the same post.  Actually, I was too.  It was not at all what I planned.  But I think within the two is what God is trying to say – let Him have your hard things.  Trust Him in your struggles. Then enjoy what He has given you.  Delight in Him.  Focus on Him.  I believe what He has in store for you is truly beyond what you could have ever imagined or dreamed of…..

      no ear has heard,
   no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him”   1 Corinthians 2:9

Taken from my “Our Journey” devotional:

Consider it:  I have been crucified with Christ.  It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.  And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.  Galatians 2:20

Live it: Yesterday I celebrated Easter.  Today I re-enter life.  Burn upon my heart the victory that is mine in Christ.  I no longer need to live in the flesh – Christ gave Himself for me and I live in His power.

Lord, help me today in my words, my actions, my attitudes to reflect the victory that is mine in Christ Jesus.  Today and every day until You come again, help me to live the truth.  Amen.

Easter eve thoughts

As Christ followers, this time of year really inspires us.  We ponder anew what Christ did for us on the cross.  We make decisions based on that sacrifice.  We challenge our flesh to live out our days more like Him.  We thank Him, and continue to earnestly show our gratitude.  We look so forward to that celebration in our places of worship on Easter.  His resurrection is indeed something to celebrate.  We anticipate being with our families and friends, our fellow worshippers, to rejoice together.  We wait for that day.  that time.  For Him.

I’m not sure many of us think about the Saturday before Easter.  The day after Good Friday, the one where only silence was heard.  Where grief was thick, and no news was no news.  The day where the most faith was required, and they waited.  Because the reality of that day showed no new life.  no resurrection.  only the hope of it.  Would you have still believed?  Do you still believe?

If that is your life today, this Saturday between the cross and the empty tomb, I have prayed for you.  If areas of your life are showing no signs of new life, no hope of resurrected joy, watch out.  Easter’s coming!  He indeed is alive, and restored, and living indeed to show off for you.  To bring you hope.  To shatter out thoughts of life, death, and what is possible.  It doesn’t matter what we think about it, or how we feel about it, but it matters if we trust Him with it.  His resurrection showed us so much – one of which certainly is that nothing is impossible with God.  nothing.  Not even your situation, your circumstance.  Be encouraged, His beloved.  We just have one more day to wait…….

*oh, and by the way, this year Easter eve is especially profound to our family.  Our son, Adam has asked his Laura to marry him.  and she said yes!  amen!  I am overthetop rejoicing this day!  (and cooking, cause we get to celebrate with them soon!)

May your Easter be especially significant as well.  His joy!
