Romans 5:3-5 (message) “There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!”

from my devo “God Calling” this morning. enjoy.
“There is nothing lacking in your lives because really all is yours, only you lack the faith to know it. You are like the Kings’ daughters who sit in rags, yet around them are stores of all they could desire.
Pray for more faith, as a thirsty man in a desert prayers for rain, for water. Swift comes My help, swift and strong. Do you know what it is to feel sure that I can never fail you? As sure as you are that you still breathe? How poor is man’s faith! So poor. Do you trust Me as much as you would a friend if that friend came and said he would send you help? Pray daily and most diligently that your faith may increase.”
“For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.”
“He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
“‘Have faith in God,”‘Jesus answered.”
“Jesus said to the woman, ‘Your faith has saved you; go in peace.'”
“The apostles said to the Lord, ‘Increase our faith!'”
“Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,…”
1 Corinthians 2:5
…”so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.”
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.”
2 Peter 1:3
“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.”
“In this way we are like the various parts of a human body. Each part gets its meaning from the body as a whole, not the other way around. The body we’re talking about is Christ’s body of chosen people. Each of us finds our meaning and function as a part of his body. But as a chopped-off finger or cut-off toe we wouldn’t amount to much, would we? So since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvelously functioning parts in Christ’s body, let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be, without enviously or pridefully comparing ourselves with each other, or trying to be something we aren’t.
If you preach, just preach God’s Message, nothing else; if you help, just help, don’t take over; if you teach, stick to your teaching; if you give encouraging guidance, be careful that you don’t get bossy; if you’re put in charge, don’t manipulate; if you’re called to give aid to people in distress, keep your eyes open and be quick to respond; if you work with the disadvantaged, don’t let yourself get irritated with them or depressed by them. Keep a smile on your face.” Romans 12:4-8, the Message
so. there you go. think on that for a while……
blessings to you.
I find myself not writing as much. There is a LOT going on – and I seem to have less and less time to tend to this blog thing. However, I find myself looking for bloggable items throughout my days. And truly, that’s not what I want to do. I want it to pour out from the overflow of what God is doing in my life. I want it to encourage, and inspire, as He so aptly and faithfully does. But I think it must be deep. And profound. And since I’m honestly not too deep or profound, I feel inadequate. If that makes sense. But here’s the thing. His Word is deep. and profound. And I find myself captivated by it over and over again. I pray you do too.
Today was a good day. Hope it was for you, too.
“If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if His love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.” Philippians 2:1-4 the Message
Have a great weekend.
Whew! What a powerpacked busy fun-filled, faith-filled weekend! I took the girl to the Revolve Tour this weekend, and it was so great! Filled with worship and music by such amazing people like: Natalie Grant, Group 1 Crew, Hawk Nelson, Krystal Meyers, Danielle Kimmey (of Out of Eden) (this weekend was so full of great music – a bit different from what I regularly listen to, and I loved that). Speakers Chad Eastham, Jenna Lucado, and others (like Natalie Grant ) brought great messages of hope and power found in following God in our lives. Of accessing Him, and allowing Him to access us. A great praise team, and the drama team that is so powerful. So very powerful. I truly LOVE the drama, and this group did not disappoint. Stunning. And the world’s greatest “Tour Guide”, my very own most favorite, Courtney Clark Cleveland. Oh, how I love that girl! And what a seriously wonderful job she did of being the leader of all the fun times! (Court – I’m not even kidding here – you seemed so comfortable up there, talking to thousands of girls like they had just dropped by your house for the afternoon! I’m really so very proud of you!)
Here’s what the tour is all about – first of all, glorifying God. Then, encouraging young girls, 6-12th grade. In all areas of their lives. But all things point to God, and the things of God. It’s fast paced, full of excitement (and screams – ohmygoodness, the screams!) and so very fun. I loved to participate, but I also loved to observe. Just watch the happenings all around me.
I think being at this event for me, literally poured joy and energy directly into my marrow! I realized once again how much I love my Jesus. I love singing about Him. And hearing about Him. And I sure did love sharing it with my favorite daughter!
I think if you are at all involved in the life of a teenaged girl, or girls, you must take her/them to this wonderful weekend event. Go to revolvetour.com, and find out when they will be in your area. And do me a favor – pray for these amazing young people involved in this event, who pour out so much in the name of Christ. Our girls have been given quite a gift in each of them. This generation is so very blessed. I pray fervently that God opens up His abundance and pours His blessings out on them! amen!
Never boring! Always such a wild ride! Full of surprises. Rich in fellowship – ohmygoodness, how I love the body of Christ! Overflowing with mercy, grace, love, joy and so much more……. Peace in the midst of what you thought you couldn’t live through. Contentment. Always new. Loud. Quiet. Fast. He is better than He has to be. All the time. Nothing compares. Challenging. Enough. Abundant. The most amazing thing I could have imagined. So worth it. So very worth it. I love Him so!
Your love is amazing, steady and unchanging
Your love is a mountain, firm beneath my feet
Your love is a mystery, how You gently lift me
When I am surrounded, Your love carries me
Hallelujah, Your love makes me sing
Hallelujah, Your love makes me sing
Your love is surprising, I can feel it rising
All the joy that’s growing deep inside of me
Every time I see You, all Your goodness shines through
And I can feel this God song, rising up in me
Yes, You make me sing
Lord, You make me sing, sing, sing
How You make me sing
I pray today that His love actually does make you sing. This song has just burst forth in my mind, going over and over inside, and I finally had to find it online, and take a listen. I would consider it somewhat of an “oldie” but such a good one. Truly, He does all this and more.
As I taught my seniors this morning in Sunday school, I really did just get so excited. Seriously, I couldn’t contain it. And I told them. outloud. (oh, I’m so very sure they already think I’m the craziest person ever!) One guy who hasn’t been coming very long asked why I was excited. I told him, “God”. so simple. so complex. But truly, He is it for me. IT.
As we begin a new week, of work, or school, or whatever challenge we seem to be facing, let’s remember His love. And the fact that it really is amazing.
****update**** I’m not kidding, less than an hour after posting this, I sang this at church! Out of all the songs we could have sung……you should have been there to watch my amazement……His love truly is amazing!!! love, n.
