off we go!

Camp!!! whoo hooo! I love the week of high school camp, but the week before camp?  not so much.  I get so nervous, wondering why in the world I signed up again. Why am I going?!!  I try to remember…..  I even get a bit sick to my stomach.  Plus I’ve had a headache all day.  sorry – I sound like I’m whining.  I don’t mean to…….(I go because the Lord called me to serve – oh, yeah, that’s right.)

So, this is a prayer request.  For our group – our safety and protection coming and going, each student(we are taking 60 high school students, 9 adults), and an outcome of each participant to have a true desire to pursue God and His Word.  For the Word to soak in really deep, in good soil, and for much fruit to come forth from each student.  each adult.  We will be going to the beach.  I look forward to giving you the praise report upon return.  I thank you, and appreciate you.  Blessings to you and yours.

I’ve just got a second, but this was too good to not stop and share……

Straight from the Message….”What a God!  His road stretches straight and smooth.  Every God-direction is road tested.  Everyone who runs toward Him makes it.”  Psalm 18:30

everyone who runs towards Him makes it…….

Wondering which way to run this morning?  go for it – go for Him……you will make it!  amen!  Blessings to you on this glorious summer day!

Psalm 100

Psalm 100

A psalm. For giving thanks.

 1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness;
       come before him with joyful songs.

 3 Know that the LORD is God.
       It is he who made us, and we are his [a] ;
       we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving
       and his courts with praise;
       give thanks to him and praise his name.

 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
       his faithfulness continues through all generations.

Psalm 100

the message

A Thanksgiving Psalm

 1-2 On your feet now—applaud God! Bring a gift of laughter,
      sing yourselves into his presence.

 3 Know this: God is God, and God, God
      He made us; we didn’t make him.
      We’re his people, his well-tended sheep.

 4 Enter with the password: “Thank you!”
      Make yourselves at home, talking praise.
      Thank him. Worship him.

 5 For God is sheer beauty,
      all-generous in love,
      loyal always and ever.

I just wonder if you actually stood on your feet to applaud our God just then?!!  I mean, really, should we go all out on shouting our praise to God?  Indeed, yes! Ohmygoodness, absolutely!  I believe we can have our own praise party to and with our God, anytime we are reminded of Who He is, and what He has done. At the sight of another magnificent sunrise.  As a new one enters this world.  As you receive news that blows your mind.  As you listen to the thunder for the first time in months, as the drought ends.  As you just awake, and are overtaken in His lavish love for you……….Enter with the password: “Thank you!”

      “Make yourselves at home, talking praise.
      Thank him. Worship him.”

Our worship today, Sunday, will most likely take place in a group with others.  Along the lines of singing a few hymns/ praise songs.  prayer.  listening to a message – with text taken from the Holy Bible.  But I wonder if we need to be reminded that we can make ourselves at home in praise and thanksgiving to our mighty, wonderful, great, powerful God.  Creator and Maker of heaven and earth.  On a Tuesday.  Or a Friday night.  In your own car.  home.  on your bike.  in a tree.  by the ocean.  on a mountain.  I am reminded, and I do indeed thank you, Lord.

How great is our God!  May He lavish His love on you, as you stand and applaud Him, through praise and thanks. May His lavish lavish love fall on you today.

living without stereo

This last week I have been living with a frustrating situation.  I tend to listen to my music at least two hours in the morning as I run, ride my bike, and walk the dogs.  (yes, dogs – we got a puppy on Saturday!  He is ADORABLE, and the perfect puppy!) I’ve been trying to ride my bike again in the evening, when the temperature drops to below 100 degrees.  Of course, I would like my music then, too.  However,since last week, one half of my headphones has not been working. The left ear.  I’m not kidding.  I have been listening to my praise with only one ear.  I have been enjoying only half my music.  mono, not stereo.

Certainly not earth shattering, I’m aware.  But today during my run, listening to my worship with my right ear, God spoke.  Not in my ears, but definitely in my heart.  He told me we were meant to live in stereo.  We were meant to function with all that has been given us.  If we don’t, we are not experiencing all that He has for us.  Just as I had felt the loss of my full-functioning headphones, we would also experience loss if not pursuing Him, and serving Him 100%.  He came so that we could live full.  live abundantly.

“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”  John10:10 NIV

“I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.”  John 10:10 the message

” I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [a]overflows).”  John 10 :10 amplified

So, we shall.  I pray today that you don’t hold back.  That you chase after Him fully and with much joy.  That you find your life being better than you had ever dreamed of.  Overflowing with joy!  amen!

(by the way – I just picked up some new headphones – tomorrow morning it’s back to full stereo!)

I’ve had thoughts running through my head for a while now.  It has to do with life on the lake.  No, not a big, ski on, motor boats all over, kind of lake.  But the quiet, only allow small boats with trolling motors, kind of lake.  Probably a mile and a half around it, walking on the path.  Lots of mature trees, to line the edges.  In my backyard.  Full of a life I never saw.  But I am now fully engaged in.

Just last night, I was able to sit in my tiny “office” working, and watch out my window my dear husband fish.  He didn’t catch anything, but he loved the experience anyway.  He just walks out our back door, and is fishing within a few moments.  Earlier, we had walked around the lake with a friend and his 15 month old daughter, who had just become a big sister.  I watched the lake life through her eyes.  Fascinating place, this lake.  And a very creative Creator Who designed it all.  So much to see………

Ducks, turtles, fish, egrets, ospry, blue herons, butterflies, trees, all manner of flowers, vegetable gardens, baby ducks………the baby ducks captivate me!  You should see the way the mama gets as we approach!  Mamas are like that.  We have much in common, she and I.

As I watch and take in all I see, I am deeply aware of the love of my God, not only for me, but for these.   And it reminds me again of the faithfulness of God, and His Word………Matthew 6: 25-34

 25“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[q]28“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Whatever is concerning you today, rest in this – God knows.  He cares.  He loves.  deeply.  Rest in Him.  Seek Him first.  I am learning more about it each day on the lake.
