Sorry – I just can’t help it.  I have been reading each morning my Message – and this week has been such a great week in the 1 Thessalonians.  I just read some more a little while ago (out of chapter 5), and absolutely must MUST share this word.  It is powerful.  seriously.  Fasten your seatbelt, folks……

16-18 Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.

19-22 Don’t suppress the Spirit, and don’t stifle those who have a word from the Master. On the other hand, don’t be gullible. Check out everything, and keep only what’s good. Throw out anything tainted with evil.

23-24 May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it!

This is what I pray for you tonight – that God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, makes you holy and whole, puts you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keeps you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it!

May it be, Lord, may it be.

love your servants

These words are from my God Calling devotional book, dated April 16th……hope it speaks to you, as it did to me……

“Love, love, love.  Tender Love is the secret. Love those you are training, love those who work with you, love those who serve you.

Dwell on that thought – God is Love.  Link it up with My ‘I and My Father are one.’ Dwell on My actions on Earth.  See in them Love in operation.

If it was God who so acted, then it was Love, Perfect Love, performed those actions, those wonders.  Then you, too, must put Love (God) into action in your lives.  Perfect Love means perfect forgiveness.  Lo, My children, you see that where God is there can be no lack of forgiveness, for that is really lack of love.

God is Love……no judging.

God is Love……no resentment.

God is Love……all patience.

God is Love……all power.

God is Love……all supply.

All you need to have is love to God and man.  Love to God ensures obedience to every wish, every command.  Love is the fulfilling of all law.

Pray much for love.”

amen.  have a Love – filled day.

a word to the Thessalonians

I have been enjoying some Ephesians this week – just soaking in them, reading them over and over.  In different versions. I had MUCH to hear from God in these precious chapters, and thought I would share.  Maybe some day I will.   However, as I finished the 6th chapter this morning, I just felt like having me some Thessalonian insight.  So, I started in there as well.  In the Message.  Here’s what I found, in 1 Thessalonians……..

” I, Paul, together here with Silas and Timothy, send greetings to the church at Thessalonica, Christians assembled by God the Father and by the Master, Jesus Christ. God’s amazing grace be with you! God’s robust peace!

2-5 Every time we think of you, we thank God for you. Day and night you’re in our prayers as we call to mind your work of faith, your labor of love, and your patience of hope in following our Master, Jesus Christ, before God our Father. It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special. When the Message we preached came to you, it wasn’t just words. Something happened in you. The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions.

5-6 You paid careful attention to the way we lived among you, and determined to live that way yourselves. In imitating us, you imitated the Master. Although great trouble accompanied the Word, you were able to take great joy from the Holy Spirit!—taking the trouble with the joy, the joy with the trouble.”

Whew!  What a bunch of great, insightful, thought-provoking words!  Here’s just a couple that stood out to me right off the bat – “God’s robust peace”, “God not only loves you very much but also has put His hand on you for something special.”  (I’ve got to believe that is for someone reading this today!  I know it was for me, too.)  “The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions.”  “You were able to take great joy from the Holy Spirit…..”  I couldn’t decide which ones spoke to me more – but I am more in love than ever before with my God.  my precious Jesus.  my Holy Spirit.  I pray you are too.  Read it again, with fresh eyes, and be dazzled by your Creator!

Hi. I’ve had such a busy few days, and though I have thought about you, and prayed for you, I just couldn’t sit and tell you. But here I am.I have a friend, Lindsee,  who I have had the joy of meeting in the blog world, and then, in the real world. Interestingly, she is half my age (or less – yikes!) and I actually knew her mom from church long ago. Well, last week, she “tagged” me. Since I’m really not altogether a genius at this blogland game, I have taken a couple days to try to respond. First, Lindsee, thank you for the tag! You are such a delight to me. So, in accordance with the “rules”, here they are, for your enjoyment…….

*Link your tagger and list these rules on yourblog

*Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird

*Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

*Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

(I just asked my daughter what are some random facts about me – her answers were so funny – wish I could tell you!) So, here you go –

• I love sunrises and sunsets. absolutely love them.

• I am not really very tall. at all. But each of my children are very tall.

• I love LOVE to bake. and give it away. I also make a pretty good fudge at Christmas.

• I love to read novels. Christian ones. sweet ones.

• I start each day with a run with Jesus.

• I’ve never had a cup of coffee in my life. I’m serious. what do you think about that one?!!

• I love to watch House Hunters, John and Kate plus 8, and Gilmore Girls. Should I admit that? All the above I love the most if I’m watching with my daughter.

ok.  so there you go.  I’m not including my links, since I’m link handicapped at this time.  so lame, but it’s true.  That’s why I can’t make lindsee’s link move in this post.  Anybody able to help me, feel free.  Have a nice day.

I teach Sunday school.  High school.  Senior girls.  I love them.  I’ve done it about 10 years now, I suppose.  Coupled with all those students I know through my own children, when graduation time comes around, I am challenged to find a gift to give to all – that I can afford.  One of the first years I taught Sunday school, I found this list of our identity in Christ – and combined with a letter I write to my graduates, I send this as a gift.  I have heard from those who are adults now, who still have their list.  I’m sure many trashed it long ago, but I always pray it sinks deep in their souls.  That these truths stick with them.  I love them, and want them to be successful in their college years and beyond. I heard from one former student last week, who was having a rough time, and couldn’t find her list. She requested it again.  Warmed my heart, and reminded me of the power and strength of God’s Word.  truly.  And she knew at this tough time, she needed to be reminded of who she was in Christ.  It reminded me, too, as I typed it to her in an email.  So, here it is – for you.   Remember who you are in Christ.  His love to you……
