I love Student Life!

Seriously. I love them. Student Life Tour is amazing! If you have a chance, and they are coming to your town, by all means, grab some middle or high school students, and GO!!!! (studentlife.net) They are 100% excellent in all they do – and this weekend Tour thing is so so so great. They come this weekend, and our youth went. It was part of their DNow weekend. My husband and I went last night, and reconnected with dear friends there. LOVED it. Such a powerful word brought by Gregg Matte (one of my alltime favorites), great great great worship by Spur 58 (definitely been my favorites for so long! Aaron – so great to “talk” to you, and Jimmie and Laura – you are amazing!) and wonderful, amazing drama that just gives such power to what is being sung and taught. (John – truly, such a delight to me!)

I have been able to make the trips to SL camp for close to 10 years now – each one seemed to be better than the one before. I have truly been sharpened, refined, and challenged by God moving through these fine servants each year – I am so very thankful for them. Some of my dearest friends on this planet I met at camp. Is that weird?! I guess, never really going away to camp as a child or youth myself, I am really enjoying it now in my mid-ageness! I think one of the things I love most about these precious servants who serve through Student Life is that they literally pour themselves out for the body of Christ. They spend themselves for the sake of Christ. I watch as they work so very hard, to the glory of God. They stop at nothing to see that all they do is for Him. for His glory. I can’t help but love them. want to serve like them. and pray so fervently for them. Oh, God, please continue to give these amazing servants Your power and strength as they lavishly and joyfully serve you.

I had one regret this weekend. I couldn’t be in two places at once. I really also wanted to support another great organization that had come to town……Women of Faith had brought their Revolve Tour to our area – it is their weekend for teenage girls. For the love! Why on the very same weekend?!!! We certainly would have been their with our girls! Courtney – I love you much, and pray all went so well with you…….you are DEAR to me!

Well, I really do have one other regret – a big one – you won’t believe this! My husband attended with me last night, as I told you, but then early this morning, left town for a couple of days. I had set my alarm late last night, and even double checked it. This morning I was blessed with the opportunity to take breakfast over to one of our Disciple Now homes – a very special one, you see, for it housed my beloved seniors! I was thankful for that, and was looking forward to seeing them. I had already bought the milk, juice, and fruit for the 18 hungry people there, and would run to the store for doughnuts and kolaches first thing this morning. I had given myself plenty of time to run, walk the dog, shower, go get the food, and get it to the house. Then I could get to Tour early to hang with a couple of my dear friends.

Do you see where this is going? Are you already fearing for what actually happened?!!! As I type this I still can’t believe it actually happened…….I overslept. OVERSLEPT! I awoke with a start 15 minutes after the food was supposed to be there! ohmygosh, I moved so fast out of that bed, called the host home, so very mortified at my circumstances. I was met with a little laugh, and much grace. I raced the drinks and fruit over there, while her husband raced to the doughnut store. I slinked into that house, greeting my senior class with such humility. Of course, I was still in my pjs. It’s hard not to be humble in your pjs. I think they felt a little sorry for me, actually. I must have looked pitiful. I sure felt it. I will think of some way to make it up to them.

As I called my friend to tell him I would be late, and what happened, apparently I made his day, for he was out of control laughing. nice…… I did make it to the event on time, and the rest of the day was totally amazing. (Darren Whitehead was the amazing speaker today) I praise God for grace. for forgiveness. and I praise Him for Student Life.

Seriously, sometimes, I just call out His name. it is indeed blessed. holy. mighty. powerful. sacred. Jesus. Jesus. Oh, how I need Him!

I have not updated in a while – since I was waiting for the comcast dude to show last week. and he did. barely. He did not complete his work till 6:30pm – two hours after I was supposed to be at Bible study, but still early enough to get there for the powerful wonderful always encouraging and inspiring teaching. My girl and I (dad out of town) slipped in right as teaching began – and oh, what joy in studying the Word with some girlfriends!

The week has been a very full busy one, and I am so thankful to have the work to do, and the ability to do it. I have been feeling somewhat better, though I will be having a “procedure” done. nope – I’m sorry, it’s an actual surgery. I was trying to help it sound less operation-like. And seriously, it’s so not a big deal. I still don’t have a date, but I will let you know – I honestly treasure your prayers for this.

I will close for now. I just pray His happy on you for this week. May you truly be happy and joyful. In Jesus’ name…..

“But may the righteous be glad
and rejoice before God;
may they be happy and joyful.
Sing to God, sing praise to his name,
extol him who rides on the clouds —
his name is the LORD—
and rejoice before him.” Psalm 68:3-4

home, sweet home!

We joyfully announce to you, dear ones, that we have successfully moved into our new home!  Praise His holy name!  He does all things well.  Every step has been glorious.  seriously.  I love it – and love that you helped pray me in it.  Each time I drive on my driveway, I thank Him for you.  I thank you for partnering with me in such a minor detail – that was holding up the whole procedure.  But His timing is perfect, and we are so very blessed.

During the last week, I have also had a bit of a health issue come up – so that has made life a tad more interesting than a regular moving week could be!  Seriously, I don’t think it is much of a big deal, but will be seeing a surgeon tomorrow.  If you feel so led, I’d welcome your prayers.

Right now I am waiting for the cable man – who has 40 minutes left to his “window” of time – frustrated that I also really want to get to Bible study.  Pleeeeeeeeeeeease, mr. comcast, come quickly! in Jesus’ name!  I have had intermittent service since moving, thus not able to update you till now.

I am thankful and grateful for each of you, for your prayers, and your encouragement.  May God continue to lavish you with His perfect love, as you seek after Him.  All glory and honor be His.

what a week!

….and we’re only half-way through it! whew! I’m tired from being so overjoyed!!!! Guess what, folks!!!! My driveway is being poured as I type this!!! Can I hear a praise shout all across this glorious land?!!!! I am whoooping and a-hollering, that’s for sure!!! I THANK YOU for praying the heavens would hold the rains for us – three days with a forcast of big rains, brought collectively only about 10-15 minutes of rain last night. Then such a stiff wind, the wetness couldn’t stick around! A true modern-day miracle!

I may be very very busy for the next few days, but the move will happen, and I will be praising God with all that is within me. I thank you for sharing some of that joy with me. Your comments have been so helpful, I appreciate your prayers so much, and you are so dear to me. Have a great rest of the week, and know that your fervent prayers will not be forgotten.

“My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD. Let every creature praise his holy name for ever and ever.” Psalm 145:21

Thank you so much for praying. seriously. I’m not kidding at all. The update is that right now, as I type, the sun has peaked through the clouds. today we had an 80% chance of rain, and so far, none has fallen on my dirt/driveway to be! Praise HIM!!!

Today in church we sang Tomlin’s “How Can I Keep from Singing” – here are the lyrics.

There is an endless song
Echoes in my soul
I hear the music ring

And though the storms may come
I am holding on
To the rock I cling

How can I keep from singing Your praise
How can I ever say enough
How amazing is Your love
How can I keep from shouting Your name
I know I am loved by the King
And it makes my heart want to sing

I will lift my eyes
In the darkest night
For I know my Savior lives

And I will walk with You
Knowing You’ll see me through
And sing the songs You give

I can sing in the troubled times
Sing when I win
I can sing when I lose my step
And fall down again
I can sing ’cause You pick me up
Sing ’cause You’re there
I can sing ’cause You hear me, Lord
When I call to You in prayer
I can sing with my last breath
Sing for I know
That I’ll sing with the angels
And the saints around the throne

I love this song – I remember how it startled me when I first heard it – it gave me such JOY. I have always loved it. As I was singing it today, these words just jumped out at me…….”And though the storms may come I am holding on To the rock I cling” I thank HIM for being my Rock, and my strength, my joy and my life!!! And even if I write tomorrow or the next day that it poured, I definitely cling to my Rock. I still choose to hope in Him. I hope you are too, today. He is worthy. He is enough. He is my delight. So, even through the storms, I trust Him. I’ve got to be honest with you today, though – the sun looks pretty dern amazing!!!! Keep praying, please, dear friends! Thank you so so much.

I mean, honestly, how often are they really right? I have had such HOPE that this next few days we would have sun and dry weather. We are desperate (well, that may be slightly overstated, but we are “eager”) to dry out so we can pour a driveway! This past several months we have been building a home. First we had so hoped to be in our new home before the end of the year. Then it was “for sure” before January was over. That was before the rain. and more rain. then cold and rain. For the love!!! It is February 2nd, and I am delighted to report I just returned from my new home (ah, such a wonderful bike ride, but I’ll talk about that another time!) where a TRACTOR is preparing the dirt for the steel work for the concrete pour! Praise the LORD! Oh, my soul!!!!

So, I come home, and check out the weather channel. You know, to see if anything has changed since the last time I checked. What’s in store for us this week? You’ve got to be kidding! Tomorrow, 40% chance of rain, Monday, cloudy, Tuesday rain. So, I’m going to ask a favor. Just for these next few days, will you please pray for dry weather for us here in SE Texas, so we can pour a driveway? Five days should do it. Seven would be better. If so, we could feasibly move next weekend. Glory, hallelujah!!!

ok. Deep in my heart, the feels self-serving. self-indulgent. that is so NOT what I want it to be, because truly, my goal is to glorify the Lord on this blog – to give Him honor, and praise. Whether it rains or not, we sure will. I just thank you for partnering with me on this tiny little request. May every weatherman be wrong this week! In Jesus’ name! thanks so much. I’m feeling my praise dance coming already……..
