a verse for you, for me

For a week I have loved this verse……..yep, a whole week.

Isaiah 26:12 (NIV)
“LORD, You establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished You have done for us.”

and now from the Amplified:
“Lord, You will ordain peace (God’s favor and blessings, both temporal and spiritual) for us, for You have also wrought in us and for us all our works.”

I am enjoying a time of being “wrought” by God. I use the term “enjoying” loosely. Maybe even a tad bit sarcastically, though I’ve been trying to wean myself from sarcasm. However, there is assurance that my peace is being ordained for me. Do you know that your God is FOR YOU? It’s a serious truth that He is reminding me of over and over again during this season. I am thankful – so thankful – that I don’t have to go through challenging circumstances without a point. For He WILL ordain, He WILL establish peace FOR ME. FOR YOU. Rest in that. All that we have accomplished He has done for us. amen.

23 on the 23rd

I love my children. I probably don’t tell you about them as much as I would like to. They are just so special to me, and I ADORE them! seriously. They are such a delight to me. I have four of them – did you know that? – three boys and a girl. Today is a very special day for my second born. very special to me, too. He turns 23 today. (yes, I know I’m old!!! please, no need to comment on that!) Seriously, I really don’t feel old enough to have children in their 20s, but it’s true enough. Facts are facts.

My birthday boy – this young man is amazing. He follows his passions, he brightens up any day, he teaches me something in most every conversation, he knows so much about things I don’t, and I love him so….He lives in Nashville – waaaaaaay too far from his mom! – he works in the music industry, and is going to graduate from Belmont in May – praise the LORD!!! His dad and I are so very proud of him. honestly. So join me in wishing Mark a very happy birthday. I must say, he has made my life more excellent. more exciting. more full of joy, that’s for sure.

“The LORD bless you
and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you
and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you
and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26

Happy birthday, son. (you have some surprises coming your way!) I love you so. ~mom

everlasting God

My favorite song during this recent season has been Everlasting God. I love it. deeply. I love the Chris Tomlin rendition. I especially love the way Lincoln Brewster sings it. I love singing it at church. I love singing it on Wednesday nights with the youth. I love singing it in my head. I love singing it out loud. really loud sometimes. I especially love singing it in my car. with the sunroof open. I love what it does to my heart as I sing it. I love the way my joy is full after I sing it. I love how God continues to teach me more and more about Himself – through His Word, and through songs such as this one. So, here it is. Sing it along with me, in your mind, or right out loud. But find the joy waiting for you – and hope in Him.

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary

Our God, You reign forever
Our hope, our Strong Deliverer
You are the everlasting God
The everlasting God
You do not faint
You won’t grow weary

You’re the defender of the weak
You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

a new look

So, what do you think?  I have been wanting to do this for a while, but lack any creative ability whatsoever.  I think a new year asks for a new look, don’t you?  Anyway, hopefully, more changes will come later.

I only have a minute to post, but have been praying for you today.  You may want to know that.  I have been asking the Lord to bless you beyond measure and to draw you closer to Him.  I pray that you dig into His Word today, and hear from Him how very much He loves you.  For indeed, He does love you so so much.

Enjoy this glorious day, knowing that.  Blessings to you.

the newness

Happy New Year! I was told today at church that it’s too late to say that – it was a very smart 10th grader that told me that. my bad, I thought if I hadn’t said it yet to her, and it’s just 6 days into the new year, it would be considered “new”……glad to stand corrected. (but Happy New Year anyway!)

I am thankful to report our holidays were just great. For two days, all six of us were together. I love LOVE having my boys home! I am not sure I can articulate how special it is to me. We had a blast. Laughed, played games, worshipped, gathered with family, etc. And ate. Can I just say I’m a bit out of practice of cooking mass amounts of food?! However, even in this horrible little rent house, we had joy. lots of joy. Good food. fellowship. I LOVE being with my family – and miss them so so much when they are away. to my boys – I love you so much! Thank you for coming home, and making it such a special time…..

And now to the new year – in evaluating my 2007, I could count some great joys and blessings. I also found it to be a year of great loss. Through it all, I believe with all my heart that I love Christ more than ever before. I believe it may be because of the losses more than the blessings. He has remained faithful. And I fell in love with Him all over again. No one or nothing could ever take His place. As you resolve this new year to do whatever it is you resolve to do, I hope and pray you resolve to seek Him more. Pressing hard after Him, seeking to love Him more and more. In the joys and the losses. After all, He specializes in all things new……

Isaiah 43:19
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”

Lamentations 3:22-24
“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him.”

Ezekiel 36:26
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”

Romans 6:4
“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”

2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

amen! Enjoy the newness of this year, the hope to be found in 2008, and His unending love for you……
