He is your Life!

“So if you’re serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don’t shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that’s where the action is. See things from His perspective. Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your Life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ.” Colossians 3:1-4, the Message.

This Word is for me today, and I pray, for you. No matter what your day brings, He is your Life! There is much in this passage to get fired up about – especially the part of pursuing the things over which Christ presides. Also – “Be alert to what is going on around Christ…..” And, don’t you love that part that says, “see things from His perspective”? Have such a great day with Him today, friends. May He open your eyes to great spiritual things going on around you………

a question for you

Hi.  Just returned from lunch with my co-workers.  Not a group of people on the planet, outside my family, that I love more!  oh, my goodness, we laugh!  I love them so so much….

Anyway, here’s the question.  We’ve been experiencing some high school Homecoming events in our kids’ lives recently – and one of us (no names, but she’s from New Orleans)had never heard of the “mum” thing.  You know – the crazy, outlandishly large mum that the girl wears, with all sorts of dangling thingys on it?  Yeah, and the guy wears the “garter” mum on his arm, dangling as well.  So, our question – is this just a Texas thing?  I’m going to need you to help me out here, so I can report it to my dear co-worker.  Could you comment for me on this? Tell me your area of the country, and if y’all do this same tradition.  Thanks so much.  It should be a fun survey, not altogether scientific, but interesting all the same.

And, by the way, I ran in sweats this morning – you know what that means?!!  It was 52 degrees, and God is great and worthy to be praised!!!  whooo hoo!   May He delight you in your very own love language today!

I love my daily devotionals. I have a set of several readings I go through, and love beginning my day with my God. I start off first thing with a run. with God. I love it most of all when I get a sunrise during that time, but at this time of year, it is usually dark. that’s ok. We have fun, God and I. As I get ready for the day, I am reading from my variety of devotional material. One of my favorites is called the “One Year Devotional” by Chris Tiegreen. I’m just going to quote much of the entry for today, ok?

“The Spirit will take from what is Mine and make it known to you.” John 16:15

IN WORD “The things we often crave the most from the Holy Spirit are His direction and His power. We want Him as our guide and our enabler. We want to know which relationships He wants us to focus on, which career direction to tak, and which area of service to perform. Then we want Him to empower us to perform these things. And this is well within the ability and the assigned role of the Spirit to give us. Jesus has promised it to us. Everything that He would be for us if He were physically present, as He was for the disciples, is ours in the gift of His Spirit. The Spirit makes Jesus known to us in every way.

But the Holy Spirit has higher priorities for us than the ones for which we usually beseech Him. First and foremost He wants to give us the guidance and power to be holy – to be sanctified. He wants to bring to life the cleansing words of Jesus and make the kingdom of God the treasure of our hearts. The guidance about careers, relationships, and service – and the power to perform them well – are primary in our mind, but secondary in His. In order to receive them, they must be secondary in ours as well. We want works, then character. He insists on reversing the order.

IN DEED Have you sought special guidance from the Holy Spirit? Have you pleaded with Him for His power? Is there some act of service, area of ministry, or life decision that occupies your thoughts? Perhaps the Holy Spirit wants to meet you there, but has a prior item on His agenda. Perhaps He is waiting to fulfill His primary purpose for you before moving on to His secondary purpose. If He were to follow our agenda, we would move from one area of service to another without ever being made into His likeness. But He wants first things first. Let Him have His way. Let Him saturate you with Jesus’ words and ways. Make His holiness your first pursuit. Then God will be glorified in everything you do.”

wow. Are you as amazed as I am? Isn’t that such a good word?!!! Let’s let Him have His way, friends. I know I want His holiness to be my first pursuit. I want to be made into His likeness……How scary it would be to move from one area of service to another without ever being made in His likeness……help us, Lord!

more Philip news….

….and it’s GREAT! Thank you so much for your prayers, and your comments, your hugs and your concern in all this with us! My sister-in-law Anne called today while I was running an errand. Her news almost caused me to praise dance right there in that public place! I did start crying. good cry. The meeting with the Dr. went very well, there is no evidence from the testing they did yesterday of anything else they need to worry about, and he is only going to need THREE days of radiation next week. That’s it. three. 3. Un.stinkin.believable!!! They will be keeping a close eye on him – lots of dr. visits, that kind of thing.

ok, come on now, you want to shout a little praise, don’t you?!!! You want to dance a little jig?! Join me – join us – we are so so so grateful, thankful, and alloverblessed with such relief. Thank you thank you thank you……

“Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
‘The LORD has done great things for them.’
The LORD has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.”
Psalm 126:2-3

The more I read other blogs, the less confident I am about this one. You know, there are amazingly witty, clever, creative, and informative blogs out there! With many many amazing writers…….ugh! I mean, seriously, I can do funny, on occasion. Sometimes encouraging, perhaps. But there are so many others that are so outstanding. All great, all the time. I feel I should just direct you to those – some I actually DO direct you to! If I use others as a plumb line, I’m always going to come up short. Same with you, right? I mean, isn’t there someone that has what you want? Lives like you want to? Seem to do all the things that you want to do? Or am I the only one who struggles from time to time with that. I find those times are most often fixed by finding someone in need. Someone I can help. Someone who I can serve in the name of Christ. Get my eyes off myself, for crying out loud! That’s really so much better, amen?

Seriously, my only Hope is in the Lord – in His Truth, His Word, and His promises. So is yours. We are so lost without Him. I know I am. So, again, as I fix my eyes on Him, my whole outlook changes. I am more interested in serving than being served. More likely to love others than look for love. More thankful and grateful. And certainly more blessed. just by focusing on my God.

I am so very thankful for you today, blog family. For your prayers of last week for my nephew, for your comments, your hugs, and your prayers. Most important were your prayers. I called on Saturday to check on him, and they were HOME! Can you believe it?!!! He got to go home late Friday night, and they were overjoyed. We still have so much to overcome. If you want to keep praying, your opportunity comes on Tuesday, for Philip will have PET scans, and Wednesday, meet with the Doctor. (he actually is the one Doctor in the world that knows most about this disease. How amazing is it that he is already at Texas Children’s Hospital?!! That’s the kind of thing we’ve been seeing our God doing through this.) He is learning how to adjust to his “superman suit” – his back brace, that allows him to sit or stand, rather than be flat on his back.

His whole family appreciates all your prayers. and asks that you continue to remember them as you go through your days. Cause that’s what we do as the body of Christ, right? We lift one another up. We support, and love, and pray. I think that’s when we look a whole lot like Christ. At least, that’s what I see in you. So, thank you so much. And know that I have prayed His abundant blessings right back on you. Be awed by Him this week.

What is Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH)?
Langerhans cell histiocytosis is a rare disorder that occurs when there are too many of a type of white blood cell called a Langerhans cell (named for a German scientist). These cells normally reside in the skin and help fight infections and destroy certain foreign substances in the body. In LCH, these cells accumulate on bones and other parts of the body, particularly the head and neck, causing a wide range of problems. LCH can also be found in the ribs, sternum, long bones of the arms and legs, vertebra of the spine, and the pelvis. Although LCH can occur in people of all ages, a majority of cases occur in children under 10 years old. Ok, so this is what our Philip has.  The really great news I will post here……

In some cases, the disease will regress without treatment.

Have you ever heard of a cancer that actually may not require treatment?!!!  For the love!  What an amazing God we serve!  For now, Philip is resting, flat on his back.  There may not be a need for surgery, and though radiation is a possibility, it may not be necessary.  We are praising the Lord today, and we THANK YOU for your prayers!  They indeed have been heard and answered.   Continued prayers are still required, as he still has a break in his back, and a variety of risks associated with that.  But from a very grateful aunt, his parents, and other family members, thank you thank you thank you!

And, as if that was not enough, it was 66 degrees here today!  Bless the Lord, !!!!
