I’ve had thoughts running through my head for a while now. It has to do with life on the lake. No, not a big, ski on, motor boats all over, kind of lake. But the quiet, only allow small boats with trolling motors, kind of lake. Probably a mile and a half around it, walking on the path. Lots of mature trees, to line the edges. In my backyard. Full of a life I never saw. But I am now fully engaged in.
Just last night, I was able to sit in my tiny “office” working, and watch out my window my dear husband fish. He didn’t catch anything, but he loved the experience anyway. He just walks out our back door, and is fishing within a few moments. Earlier, we had walked around the lake with a friend and his 15 month old daughter, who had just become a big sister. I watched the lake life through her eyes. Fascinating place, this lake. And a very creative Creator Who designed it all. So much to see………
Ducks, turtles, fish, egrets, ospry, blue herons, butterflies, trees, all manner of flowers, vegetable gardens, baby ducks………the baby ducks captivate me! You should see the way the mama gets as we approach! Mamas are like that. We have much in common, she and I.
As I watch and take in all I see, I am deeply aware of the love of my God, not only for me, but for these. And it reminds me again of the faithfulness of God, and His Word………Matthew 6: 25-34
25“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life[q]? 28“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Whatever is concerning you today, rest in this – God knows. He cares. He loves. deeply. Rest in Him. Seek Him first. I am learning more about it each day on the lake.
